Spring

  • Crocuses are usually the first spring flowers to bloom, starting in February, followed by daffodils in March
  • Tulips and hyacinth generally start to bloom in April and will stay in bloom well into May
  • The flower buds of tulips are cut off in May in order to make the tulips grow bigger bulbs instead of using their energy on flowering. The flower bulb growers do not sell the flowers from the fields but they sell the bulbs at the end of the season. Therefore, they focus on bulbs instead of on flowers.
  • Summer flowers are usually planted in March and April.
