Why do flower farmers ask me to repect their pride, their flowers?

The Dutch flower fields are stunning. Farmers are proud of their flowers and welcome all visitors who come to enjoy the flowers. However, all flower fields are private property and are used by the farmers to grow flower bulbs for a living. Walking through the fields can damage the flowers and the bulbs.

Farmers want to grow flower bulbs in the most sustainable way and hygiene is very important to prevent diseases. That is why it is necessary to ask you not to enter the fields. The farmers thank you for your understanding.

Where can I take pictures in the flower fields?

If you want to take pictures in the flower fields, you can do so at specialized flower farms. They have separate fields for this purpose. Please always mention the name of the farmer if you post your picture on social media, for example add ‘Permission by flower farmer + NAME’. The Tourist Offices in the Bollenstreek can inform you about the locations of the specialized flower farms.

Where can I pick flowers?

Understandably, you are impressed by the beauty of the flower fields and you would like to pick a bunch of tulips yourself. There are some picking gardens where you can pick beautiful flowers. The Tourist Offices in the Bollenstreek can inform you about the locations of picking gardens.

Where can I order flower bulbs?

If you want to enjoy spring flowers such as tulips in your own garden, you can order your bulbs now at many Dutch bulb sellers. They will send your bulbs to you in September or October for planting. Also, it is possible to buy bulbs for summer flowers for planting in April or May.

How do I recognize the ambassadors?

You can recognize our ambassadors by their orange jackets.
They volunteer to give you an unforgettable experience.
If you have any questions for the growers, just ‘look out for an orange jacket’ and don’t hesitate to ask.
